UFC middleweight Kevin Holland spoke to MMA Junkie and shared his desire to face Stockton’s favorite son, Nick Diaz. ‘The Trailblazer’ put up a post on Instagram that was a clear indication that he wanted to fight Diaz. In a conversation over text message, he revealed a desire to slap arguably the most notable open-handed striker in MMA.

Nick Diaz has several highlights from the early days of his career that saw him slap his opponents square across the face. Even greats like Anderson Silva couldn’t escape Nick Diaz’s taunts. In fact, his younger brother in Nate Diaz also carried forward this tradition and notably slapped Conor McGregor when they fought.

Kevin Holland vs Nick Diaz: A bonafide slapping contest?

Holland detailed the exact timeline from when his desire to slap Nick Diaz originally arose. Moreover, he also briefly mentioned that the two men had a run-in at some point in the past. However, he declined to provide any further details on this run-in.

“I been waiting to slap the slap man since I was on (Dana White’s) Contender Series,” Holland said, in a text. “We had a little run in. I think it’s a fight the fans will want the commentators to just shut up and listen to the punches landing and our mouths flapping.”

Not to mention, Kevin Holland’s manager told MMA Junkie that his fighter is willing to scrap at either welterweight or middleweight. ‘The Trailblazer’ is preparing to cut down to welterweight after having a career downturn at middleweight in 2021. However, he will be more than willing to stay at middleweight to fight a top attraction like Nick Diaz.

Speaking of Nick Diaz, he made his long-awaited return to the octagon at UFC 265 and lost to Robbie Lawler via TKO. He certainly had his moments in the fight against the fellow veteran and it remains to be seen how he will perform against a young talent like Holland. Despite racking up some losses, Kevin Holland has proven that he is more than capable in the striking department.
