On August 26th, 2017, former UFC double division champ, Conor McGregor clashed against five-division boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. The best talent from MMA went up against the best talent in boxing. Although McGregor lost the bout at the very end, the fight was a pioneering event in combat sports history.
The current UFC heavyweight champion of the world, Francis Ngannou, seems to take inspiration from this. The 35-year-old French has shown interest in sharing rings with full-fledged boxers. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Ngannou revealed his plans to fight big names of the boxing world.
Francis shared his love for the sport and talked about his boxing goals. He stated, “He has always been down the line, you know. This is something that I’m not taking my eyes off it, you know.” The UFC champ also shared, “I can’t see myself how to retire without boxing.”

He added,” At the end of the day, it’s just about like throwing hands you know throwing punches having a good delivery system to produce bombs and I’m sure that if I deliver my own punches pretty good I can make some damage.”
