Famous submission grappler, Gordon Ryan, is known for his dominance in No-Gi grappling. He recently appeared on a YouTube video from the ‘Thiccc Boy’ channel featuring ex-UFC fighter Brendan Schaub. Ryan reiterated his health issues, especially a stomach issue, that kept him from functioning properly, even during his first-ever appearance on the JRE MMA show.

Gordon Ryan’s battle with a devastating stomach issue has been well-documented. It kept him from competing for a long time. ‘The Iron Dragon’ suffered from a severe recurring staff infection in 2018. It was misdiagnosed at first as a gastroparesis condition. However, it ended up with a significant amount of fungal growth inside his intestines.

Ryan tells Brendan Schaub that his stomach illness caused him to prevent carrying out his day-to-day normal activities. The JuJutsu aritst also talked about him feeling uncomfortable in his stomach during his first appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast.

Gordon Ryan claims to have been feeling very uncomfortable during his first appearance on the JRE MMA show. He said, “The first time I did Rogan [JRE podcast], I was so nauseous. I have like no recollection of what we even talked about. I was just like ‘Come on, man. Hold it together, hold it together.” ‘The Iron Dragon also said that he felt like throwing up and so he resorted to keep drinking water. “Every time I stopped talking, I’d have to just like sip water.”

Gordon Ryan also mentioned his hesitation to let the UFC commentator know about his stomach ailment since it was the first time they met. “It was the first time we [Ryan and Rogan] ever really hung out and I was on the podcast.” He added, “I’m like ‘man, I cannot tell Joe Rogan that I can’t do his podcast because I have a bellyache. I gotta just power through it.”

Gordon Ryan has mentioned that his health has improved significantly after being treated by a doctor in Los Angeles. He claims that he is able to manage it for competitions. Ryan says that he is about eighty to eighty-five percent better now and is confident that he will get better as time goes by.
