Surging UFC heavyweight Sergei Pavlovich has one of the best fights of his career last weekend at UFC Vegas 71. He defeated Curtis Blaydes to register yet another 1st-round finish and extended his winning streak to 6 wins. However, Pavlovich admitted that he was gambling on a slot machine on Saturday before his main event fight after footage emerged online. UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier expressed his amusement after witnessing the Russian fighter’s video.

Pavlovich was set for a tough matchup in the main event of UFC Vegas 71, given Blaydes’ wrestling credentials. However, the Russian fighter proved to be too much for Blaydes to handle and ended the fight with a series of powerful punches that hurt Blaydes.

Footage emerges of Sergei Pavlovich gambling on a slot machine in Vegas

There was a video clip of Pavlovich gambling on a slot machine in Vegas before the fight against Curtis Blaydes last weekend. He was there just hours before the fight. The media personnel asked Pavlovich about that in the post-fight press conference. He said, “To be honest, I have never gambled or played any of those things.”

Pavlovich added that one of his friends wanted to try it, so he went on to see what comes out of it. He added, “A buddy of mine was like, ‘Here’s 100 bucks, go and try it.’ And then somebody else shot the video and they you go.” Pavlovich also admitted that he lost all the money on the machine. “Alright, I’ll tell you what happened. First I won, then I’m thinking, ‘Alright, maybe I will win some more.’ And then I lost everything,” said the surging heavyweight contender as per several reports.

Daniel Cormier found Pavlovich’s gambling story amusing

The former UFC double champion talked about Pavlovich’s gambling incident in a recent episode of the ‘DC & RC Show’. Cormier mentioned how he saw Sergei Pavlovich grow from a young fighter who trained at the American Kickboxing Academy to becoming one of the biggest title contenders in the heavyweight division.

Daniel Cormier was amused to see the video of the Russian fighter playing on the slot machine. He said, “[When] I saw that video, I didn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe my eyes [and] I was like that can’t possibly be him at the slot machine in the New York Hotel.” Cormier mentioned that Pavlovich looked like an old man while sitting there. “He’s sitting down like an old person. You know the old people playing the slot machine. In the middle of the day, this dude is playing the slot machine, and he’s gotta fight in the main event that night,” said the UFC Hall of Famer.
