‘I Didn’t Expect Him to Do That’: UFC Commentator Jon Anik Recalls Personal Favor From Late Stephan Bonnar That He Will Never Forget
Jon Anik and Kenny Florian pay their respects to the late-UFC fighter Stephan Bonnar. The legendary fighter fought all his life but passed away at the young age of 45. Bonnar reportedly died of a heart complication he faced at work. The mishap took place on 22 December 2022. The late fighter had a wife, Andrea, and a son, Griffin Brandon. The unfortunate event shocked every UFC fan to their core. Meanwhile, Bonnar’s friends and the acquaintances he made during his life journey have paid him his due respects since the unfortunate event occurred. The most prominent, perhaps, are Jon Anik and Kenny Florian.
A recent video of ‘Anik and Florian Podcast’ featured a sweet tribute by the duo to their old friend. Both of them recall their favorite memories of Stephan Bonnar. As they proceed through the video, they offer the fans, a ship full of lovely memories of the beloved fighter.

Stephan Bonnar leaves an impression
Kenny Florian, the UFC legend, begins by telling Anik how close he and Bonnar were. The ex-featherweight fighter mentioned that Stephan Bonnar was the kind of person he would always get along with. They had impeccable chemistry in real life as well. As Florian goes on to finish his tribute of memories to Bonnar, Jon Anik, the UFC commentator shared a story about Bonnar. Anik revealed about how Stephan Bonnar left Anik feeling indebted due to a particular favor.
Anik recalls how in 2010, Bonnar and his wife flew across the country just to attend his wedding. “He had a fight couple a few weeks prior and had flew across the country to come to my wedding and candidly I didn’t necessarily expect him to do that but I wanted to extend the invitation,” Anik added.

For Anik, this was the ultimate favor as he did not expect Bonnar to make an appearance after a few weeks of his fight. That too, across the country. Jon Anik extended his gratitude by saying, “It just meant the world to me… for Bonnar, two weeks after his fight to fly across the country.”

The unfortunate passing of Bonnar
This mishap has created a hole in every UFC fan’s chest. Dana White, the president of the UFC, has said that Bonnar was “one of the most important fighters to ever compete in the Octagon.”
Just like him, several fighters and UFC associates are mourning for the late fighter and his family. Jon Anik also recalled the time when Bonnar and his wife confronted his relatives who didn’t give much importance to the commentator’s work. Anik went on to say, “I have so much love for this family.”

His death, indeed, is an unfortunate event. Although the UFC legend Stephan Bonnar did not live a long life, he made sure to leave his legacy behind for others to follow.
