O’Malley discusses fans and perceptions

In a recent interview with ESPN, the fighter got a bit personal when asked about what he thinks about his fans’ perceptions when he wins or even loses his fight.

He revealed his modest side and mentioned that he does not care about what people think as he has learned this along his journey at the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

He replied, “No, not really, I’ve done, I’ve learned a lot… through. I’ve been in the UFC since I was 22. I’ve learned a lot in those, uh 5 years since I’ve been in the UFC to not care what people think. You know I’ve been very active on all social medias, you can’t care what people think. So, I just learnt over the years not to really care what people think.

He further told the host that he is content with what he has and still gets to keep what he holds dear even if he loses some fights.

“I go out there and lose to Paiva. You know it’s like I still got, I still got my house, it’s almost paid off. Still got my other house, it’s almost paid off. I still got my family, my friends like my life’s still good. Win or lose my next fight it doesn’t matter.”

Sean O’Malley gears up for UFC 269

“Sugar” will head into the Octagon alongside Brazilian fighter Raulian Paiva (21-3) in his eighth UFC appearance. The fight is placed on the main card of the UFC event.

At the moment, both the fighters are unranked in the division and would look to win in grand fashion to break into the Bantamweight rankings.

“Sugar” has gone so far as to claim that he can finish the fight in under 15 minutes, but will continue till the last bell if need be.

He said, “I think I get the job done within the 15 minutes…I’ve always been good with being patient with the finish and letting the finish come. I’m not a guy that forces the finish.”
