Dana White, president of arguably the world’s greatest mixed martial arts promotion, has recently declared the matchups for UFC 291. Dustin Poirier will go against Justin Gaethje for the second time in the main event for the BMF title. Alex Pereira looks for redemption after his UFC 287 fight as he aims to taste victory over Jan Blachowicz. It is sufficient to say that the card has awakened the dormant fans. 

ESPN MMA recently shared the card on Instagram. Without a doubt, the MMA fans took over the comments section in a matter of moments and expressed their awe. Most fans were concerned about Pereira’s premature return after losing the middleweight title. While other fans pointed out how White moved Stephen Thompson and Derrick Lewis to the prelims. Nevertheless, the card has not failed to excite fans.

Dana White announced a stacked card for UFC 291 and sent a wave of frenzy through the internet. Undeniably, Poirier and Gaethje fighting for the BMF title is going to be one of the greatest fights of the year. However, the spotlight was claimed by the former middleweight champion.

The fans were concerned about ‘Poatan’ returning almost immediately after his defeat at the hands of Israel Adesanya. They believed the Brazilian required a bit more time to heal. Furthermore, the fans were also disappointed at White for moving Lewis’ fight with Marcos Rogerio de Lima and Wonderboy’s fight with Michael Pereira to the prelims.

  • Pereira already coming back 3 months after getting brutally knocked out, I don’t like that for him. On top of that he’s fighting the guy that dominated Adesanya with wrestling. Terrible move from him and his team.

  • I rather have wonderboy vs pereira on the main card than tony vs Bobby green tbh….
  • No piss breaks on the card 
  • Best card of the year if it holds together
