“I Don’t Think He Wanted It” – Stipe Miocic Says Jon Jones Rejected Fight Against Him

Stipe Miocic is one of the greatest heavyweights in UFC. Back in 2016, he won the heavyweight title and later on, defended it several times. During his time as the champion, Miocic fought some of the best fighters like Andrei Arlovski, Daniel Cormier, and Junior Dos Santos.
In 2018, he had even successfully defended his title against Ngannou. However, Miocic lost against him in 2021. Hence, Miocic is interested in a trilogy fight against the current heavyweight champion.
Amidst all this, there might be another likely opponent for the former champion. The opponent is none other than the light heavyweight legend, Jon Jones. ‘Bones’ willingly gave up his light heavyweight title to move to the heavyweight division. However, he has not fought yet.

Many fans are excited to see both the former champions clash. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Miocic spoke about a potential future fight against Jones. He said, “I’m down.”
He further said, “I don’t think he wanted it. I don’t know the whole story, but I’m down. Then he wants a title shot. I know he’s done well, he’s probably one of the greatest of all time but you’ve still got to wait your order. That’s like me going to light heavyweight and being like I want a shot.”
Rumors regarding a fight between Miocic and Jones have been around for months. However, there has been no official confirmation about it yet. While Miocic is open to a fight against Jones, his focus is on getting a trilogy bout against Ngannou. However, ‘The Predator’ will be busy with Ciryl Gane at UFC 270.
Are Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones a good matchup?
Many fans consider Miocic and Jones to be the greatest of all time. As Jones has never fought in the heavyweight division, it would be interesting to see how he copes with this new change.

Miocic, on the other hand, is right at home in the division. His 20-4-0 record is impressive. However, Jones has lost just once in his MMA career. Thus, it would surely be a tough fight for both.
