Lewis‘s match against Spivac will decide his status as a credible contender in the heavyweight division. He also stated that he wanted people to take him seriously as a fighter. The match is will take place this week on February 4 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Lewis vs. Spivac fight was originally planned for UFC Vegas 65. However, the match was called off due to a Derrick Lewis getting Covid-19. The match was called off just an hour before the event began.

Derrick Lewis claims a UFC referee is conspiring against him

Lewis‘s fight against Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 277 came to an abrupt. As soon as Pavlovich knocked Lewis down with a barrage of punches, referee Dan Miragliotta stopped the fight, despite Lewis appearing to be ready to stand. ‘The Black Beast’ recently spoke about the UFC referee at the UFC Vegas 68 press conference. “Damn, Miragliotta, whatever his name is, he’s got a conspiracy out on me man,’ said the 37-year-old.

He also added, “The last two fights that I lost, he’s been the ref. And if he’s the ref on this fight, I’ll be like, ‘Nah, I don’t want him.'”

Lewis stated that he would not participate in the fight if Miragliotta was put inside the octagon. But they’re still gonna try and put him in the cage and he’s gonna say, ‘fighter, are you ready?’ I’m saying no. We’re gonna need Herb Dean or somebody. He ain’t reffing in none of the other fights,” said ‘The Black Beast.’

Derrick Lewis also mentioned that he had no animosity toward Dan Miragliotta and believes that he was a great guy. But he doesn’t want him to officiate his UFC matches any further. Miragliotta has been criticized many times in his career over his decisions during fights, even by the UFC president Dana White.
