Nick Diaz returning to the octagon at UFC 266 was a big deal for his fans. However, the way the fight ended left the fans unsatisfied. Hence, Dana White recently spoke about the older Diaz fighting once again.

‘TMZ Sports’ reported that Diaz wants to fight again at the end of 2022. He wants to face the UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman.

He had expressed he wasn’t motivated to fight the younger and upcoming fighters in the division. Diaz, who has been in the sport since 2001, has fought some huge names. This includes BJ Penn, Georges St-Pierre, and Anderson Silva.

However, the UFC President is skeptical about Diaz facing Usman. In an interview with ‘Yahoo! Sports’, White questioned the matchup. He asked, “You think I should do Nick versus Usman?”

When asked if he was entertaining any Nick Diaz return fight, White said, “Not that I’m aware of. No.”

“Listen, there’s no denying the Diaz brothers are tough kids, man. But we’re talking about Nick Diaz versus Usman is, Usman is pound-for-pound best fighter in the world.”

“I need to look out, I need to look it out for Nick and make sure that Nick doesn’t get hurt.”

When asked about getting Diaz to fight anyone else from the division, White said, “I don’t know, Kevin. I put on fights with the best fighters in the world. … how old is Nick now? You’re asking me silly questions, Kevin. … I don’t want to see Nick Diaz get hurt.”

After his UFC 266 loss against Robbie Lawler, Nick Diaz made no excuses. However, isn’t done with the sport yet. Hence, when he returns, it would be interesting to see how the 38-year-old performs.

Diaz might have not won his 2021 return fight, but he impressed many, including Dana White. As reported by ‘MMA Fighting‘, White thought Diaz looked incredible in the fight. He felt Diaz’s performance returning after several years was ‘unbelievable’.

White had said, “That kid’s got a massive heart, he’s obviously super talented fighter, and yeah, I was impressed.”

Hence, people would like to see him fight yet again. After all, the Diaz brothers have a big and loyal fan following.
