“I Don’t Want Your Kids to Grow Up Without a Dad”: Colby Covington Crosses the Line With UFC Commentator Jon Anik

Colby Covington seems to have taken his trash-talking approach a notch up yet again. After leaving the MMA community shaken by making weight as the backup for the UFC 286 main event and getting seemingly pushed to the contender spot, the American appears to have taken on his promotional duties much more fervently. Discussing the recent developments in an interview, ‘Chaos’ surprisingly made some strong remarks about UFC commentator Jon Anik for the latter’s statement on the title shot.
Trashing Anik for backing the number four ranked Belal Muhammad as a title contender, Covington went on a tirade against the commentator, much to the bewilderment of fans.

Claiming that as a commentator it was his job to not pick sides, the former Interim champ accused the veteran of not being impartial towards him.
“John Anik’s supposed to be impartial Mike. he’s supposed to be impartial he’s supposed to have that headset, he’s supposed to be an interviewer and remain impartial.” said Covington.

He then went on to bash Anik for rooting against him and made quite a serious allegation against the 44-year-old.
“So you wanted to lick my freaking ba**s in London oh Colby this !!!! but then they you wanna go back behind the stage and cheerlead for a racist so he associates with racism and Belal Muhammad,” he exclaimed.
But it was his next statement that came off as a rather distasteful threat, which eventually could also leave fans questioning if it was even necessary for Covington to go so far with his smack-talking.
“And you know Jon Anik dude, I don’t want your kids to grow up without a dad. Just realize you live in Boca, I live in Miami mothe****er. You’re not too far from me. So you better shut your f****g mouth. You poke the bear now you get the bear comes after you.” were his exact words.
While ‘Chaos’ is known for taking things a bit too far often, this surely could be one of the most controversial statements to have come out of the American’s mouth.

What seems to have got fans, and some fighters triggered was the announcement made by Dana White that the 35-year-old was next in line for the Welterweight title. While Belal Muhammad and even champ Leon Edwards expressed their disagreement with this news, Covington appears to be relishing every moment as he prepares for yet another title shot.
Although the criticism surrounding this decision might be legit, there’s no denying that the former Interim champ does get more eyes on the UFC compared to his peers. And for the matchmakers, this just might be the reason that Covington gets to jump the line over others in the division.
