UFC color commentator Joe Rogan is the host of his widely popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. Over the years, Rogan has landed several notable guests to appear on his podcast. Fans often credit the color commentator for his interviewing and listening abilities. He is also lauded for bringing out the best from his guests, and the same could be seen when singer Demi Lovato opened up to him.

Lovato appeared on episode #1625 of The Joe Rogan Experience. The American singing sensation opened up to Rogan about their struggles with bullying as a teenager. They said, “I grew up, I went to public school except for the one year I homeschooled… I experienced bullying pretty bad while I was there and so I ended up leaving public school.”
The singer further spoke about how depression set on them because of the bullying they faced. Lovato added, “I went into a really depressive state for a period of time… When you’re 12 and you’re bullied, that’s your social life. Like your social life is everything to you. I felt like I didn’t have much to look forward to anymore except for my music.”
Demi Lovato couldn’t open up to a better individual than Joe Rogan. While the world knows Rogan for his proficiency in the combative arts, he himself struggled with bullying as a kid. The veteran UFC color commentator spoke about the same on his podcast.
Joe Rogan on being bullied as a kid
Bullying is a serious issue that is taking place around the world. Many kids who suffer from bullying take up martial arts and eventually achieve proficiency in it. Joe Rogan is no different.
On his podcast, Rogan detailed the bullying he suffered as a kid. Rogan mentioned that back in school, he had a confrontation with a kid. While the commentator did not remember the cause behind the confrontation, he remembered how the fight went. Rogan said, “I remember he getting me in a headlock, throwing me on the ground and then leaning like he was going to punch me in the face but deciding not to.”

Back then, Rogan had no clue about what had to be done and nor did he have any martial arts skills. He said, “I panicked and had no idea what to do.”

While this experience was surely horrific for Rogan, it inspired him to take up martial arts. After the incident, he began training in wrestling and karate. The color commentator used this horrific incident to better himself, and today he is one of the most prominent names in the martial arts community.
