Erin Blanchfield gained a lot of attention after her dominating performance against Miranda Maverick at UFC 269. She showed beautiful ground game and fighting knowledge. All the judges scored the fight 30-27 in Erin’s favor.

The 22-year-old young prospect also tied the record for most takedowns in a flyweight division fight. Additionally, she is a former Eddie Bravo Invitational champion who started practicing jiu-jitsu at the young age of seven.

The Blanchfield stock is pretty high right now. With her skills, win streak, and hype, big names such as Valentina Shevchenko & Amanda Nunes are sure to come her way. Recently during an interview with The Schmo, the rising flyweight touched on the topics of fighting the Top 15 fighters in her division.

When asked about Shevchenko, Erin replied, “I feel like everyone thinks Valentina is unbeatable, but that’s not true about anybody. And I don’t know if there’s anybody, like, right now that’s gonna beat her until I get there, but I know I definitely will.”

In addition to being the current UFC women’s flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko is also ranked No.1 in UFC women’s pound-for-pound ranking.

What’s ahead for Erin Blanchfield?

Erin is currently riding a two-win streak after joining UFC. In addition to these victories, Blanchfield has 6 more wins in her pro MMA career, making her record 8 to 1 loss. In the same interview, she talked about fighting another flyweight on a rise, Tracy Cortez.

Erin shared, “If it comes along, I’ll definitely take that fight. I know she was fighting at 35 for a while and she came to 25, but she missed. I’m not gonna like chase her. Wanna move up the rankings so if I have to fight her in order to get into the rankings or to move up, I will. But if she kinda dillie-dollies and doesn’t do anything then I’m not gonna go chasing her”
