His initial foray into the realm of combat sports commenced through the discipline of kickboxing, but he was compelled to withdraw prematurely due to a series of health conditions. Joe Rogan opens up on childhood struggles and fear of employment

Joe Rogan recently had the opportunity to act as the host for British stand-up comedian, writer, actor, and television host Jimmy Carr in his podcast ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ episode #2045. The duo started off the conversation with pretty deep topics that revolved around the human mind, mentality, child maturity, and much more.

While having the deep conversation Rogan and Carr delved deeper into a topic that surrounded student loans and employment. Rogan added that, unlike Britain, America faces a looming issue with student debt that may never be resolved. In the conversation, Joe Rogan shared an instance about his childhood about why he was so afraid of employment.

Rogan stated that his childhood was pretty rough. He added, “I’m the worst person to give that advice because I knew. Because of my childhood and the way I grew up – very unstable, divorced parents, stepdad moved to a new place all the time – I was terrified of rigidity. I was terrified of a job. I really felt like a loser because I felt like all those people could keep their jobs. Why? Why do I hate them so much? “

Rogan emphasized that his childhood was embroiled with struggles with him coping with his parent’s divorce and him moving to different places every time due to his stepdad’s work. He stated that this was the prime reason for his reluctance to get a job.

Jimmy Carr compliments Joe Rogan’s discipline

Down on the conversation, Jimmy Carr praised Rogan for his disciplined mindset. Carr stated that Rogan went behind two things- discipline and freedom. Carr quotes “It’s interesting what I see in you and I don’t know you that well personally, but I see your work and the thing flowing through it is discipline. Discipline and freedom seem to be two things that you do.” Carr later added that discipline gives you freedom.

Rogan agreed with Carr’s observation about him and added that discipline is what kept him going and it is what made him what he is today. Rogan further added that he was terrified of being forced upon. He added that he has witnessed so many people doing things that they had no interest in repeatedly for years and this fact is what terrified him the most.
