UFC 296 suffered yet another major blow. The final pay-per-view of the year already had to make changes to a featherweight fight a few days ago. Now, the welterweight clash between Ian Garry and Vicente Luque has been called off, due to the Irishman’s medical condition. As such, ‘The Silent Assassin’ opened up about the situation in a social media post.

Giga Chikadze was the first fighter who pulled out of UFC 296 due to an injury. Then Ian Garry had to do the same as Dana White confirmed about it. ‘The Future’ recently contracted a flu that turned into pneumonia. These things can happen to anyone, but let us see what Vicente Luque had to say about it.

Not only that but the Brazilian-American fighter also had one of the easiest weight-cutting processes in his entire professional fighting career. It was easier especially because he had the contact support of his team members. “Weight cut has been going so, so good. The easiest weight cut I’ve had in my career. I have all my team here supporting me,” Luque said on Instagram.

Many people were looking forward to seeing him fight Ian Garry, but he understands that certain circumstances are not under his control. Vicente Luque assured his fans that he did everything he could to make the fight an exciting one for them to witness. “It is out of my control. Everything that I could do, everything that I had control of, and my job, and really put my heart into this, I did. I gave it my all,” the 32-year-old added.
