Both Yan and Sterling have been in a feud ever since the controversial end of their first fight. ‘No Mercy,’ the then bantamweight champion, looked to be cruising to victory. However, he landed an illegal knee on a downed Sterling, which led to a disqualification.

Sterling has not competed in the octagon since then, and Yan recently fought in an interim title fight, which he won. Hence, the UFC 273 fight between them will be a title unification bout and will prove who is the king of the division.

Going into the fight, the Russian looks to be in great shape and form. Yan, who trains at Tiger Muay Thai, in a recent video, displayed a side of his game he’s not known for. Per the subtitles, he said, “Look, I give you any position you want.”

Later, ‘No Mercy’ absolutely dominated his partner.

Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling have a back-and-forth on Twitter

Since the announcement of the bout being pushed to UFC 273, the two rivals have been going at each other. Sterling was the first one to take a shot at Yan. In a tweet, he said that the fight was moved as the Russian isn’t vaccinated.

However, ‘No Mercy‘ was quick to respond to the claims made by the champion. He tweeted, “Pathetic liar desperately trying to look good and control the narrative but it won’t work. I’m vaccinated and ready to bash you anywhere even tomorrow. UFC simply doesn’t want fake champion to headline the event.”

The two seem to be very eager to get their hands on each other. And fans are also excited to see how this fight plays out. It is a rivalry with genuine animosity and will only make for a great fight.
