However, ‘Gamebred’ pulled out of the fight because of an undisclosed injury, which left the Brit without a partner to dance with. Following Masvidal’s withdrawal, not only ‘Rocky’ but many other fighters have taken a dig at him. One of them was the former two-division champion, Conor McGregor.

‘The Notorious’ trashed Masvidal for backing off from the fight and called him a ‘bit*h’ on the Internet.

However, this didn’t settle well with the welterweight and he quickly fired back at the Irishman. ‘Gamebred’ tweeted, “I guess you’re off your meds again barking up the wrong tree and don’t be upset your client was about to be blessed with the biggest payday of his life. And now you don’t get a dime off his whack a**. Too much man for you little guy, go back to fighting old dudes in bars.”

While ‘Gamebred’ has withdrawn from the fight, many fans are wondering about the replacement. Interestingly, one of the top-tier fighters from the division has expressed his interest in fighting Leon Edwards.

While ‘Rocky’ aims for the welterweight gold after ‘Gamebred’ pulled off from the fight, the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev wants to return to the octagon to fight Edwards.

‘Borz’, who broke into the top 10 of the welterweight division, expressed his desire to fight Edwards minutes after Masvidal’s withdrawal news. Chimaev posted a split-screen of him and Edwards. He tweeted, “Let’s go bro, we do it.

‘Borz’ is currently one of the most dominant fighters in the division. He is 10-0 in his professional fighting career. Interestingly, the Russian-born Swedish fighter has finished all of his previous opponents. Furthermore, he has three first-round finishes from four of his UFC bouts.

Chimaev, fresh from his recent win at UFC 267, wants to return to the octagon as soon as possible. While other contenders have also thrown their names up for consideration, Chimaev vs Edwards is the fight to make as the UFC had booked it thrice before. Now, they have a readymade opportunity to re-book it, provided ‘Rocky’ accepts it.
