‘I Had an Opportunity to Start Boxing Career’- Giga Chikadze Reveals How He Has Been Training With High Calibre Boxers

Giga Chikadze is an absolute beast of a fighter. The Georgian Mixed martial artist is a complete knockout artist and has incredible striking ability. His professional fighting record stands at 14 wins and 2 losses. In his entire run at the UFC, the fighter has been undefeated.

As of 11th January 2022, the fighter stands 8th in the UFC’s featherweight rankings.

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Giga Chikadze spoke about his life before he took up a career as a mixed martial artist. He also discussed his upcoming fight against Calvin Kattar at UFC Vegas 46.

Chikadze said, “He’s a past boxer (Kattar). Former one of the best boxers in the UFC. Many people been talking before Max fight, that he was the best boxer in UFC. So I’m excited to show them what is my boxing about.” 

Out of the 14 wins he has in his fighting career, Chikadze has had 9 wins via knockout. In his interview, he also credited his boxing gym for his striking training. He said,” Yeah, my boxing is pretty damn good. Shout out to Brickhouse Boxing Gym as well. Where I train my boxing these days.”

In his interview with MMA Junkie, Giga Chikadze revealed how he fought his way into the USA.

He said,” You know, people don’t know about how I got into the US. I had an opportunity to start a boxing career. You know Naazim Richardson, the coach of Bernard Hopkins. They had been talking to me and they got me the visa to come and be aspiring partner of Bernard Hopkins for Kovalev fights.”

Chikadze’s striking skills will be put to the test in his upcoming fight against Calvin Kattar. Kattar is an incredibly powerful and creative striker. This upcoming fight is undoubtedly the biggest fight that Chikadze has had in his entire career as a professional fighter.
