UFC’s pound-for-pound ranking has been a topic of raging debate for a while now. It all started when Islam Makhachev, then #2 P4P faced Alexander Volkanovski, the #1 P4P at UFC 284 in February. Even after defeating Volkanovski, the officials did not award Makhachev the #1 spot. While fans agreed with this decision because of Volkanovski’s striking prowess, others criticized the UFC for this.

A month later, Jon Jones made his return in the very next PPV and reclaimed the #1 spot with just one victory. Debates re-erupted because of this decision, as some fans argued that ‘Bones’ did not deserve a top spot with just one fight.

Recently, the P4P rankings experienced another interesting change. Alexander Volkanovski, who successfully defended his featherweight little against Yair Rodriguez, rose up to the #1 spot again, where he remains tied with Jones.

The new P4P rankings update is proving to be bittersweet for many fans. While they agree Volkanovski is the rightful #1, his tying Jones for the spot is unsettling them. They have been extremely vocal in their opinions on this change and have called out the UFC, as they feel this ranking is unjust.
