Two-time Olympic boxing gold medalist Claressa Shields made headlines after her stunning victory in her MMA debut at PFL. She is now preparing for her next fight in the promotion. Ahead of her second MMA bout, Shields appeared in an episode of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. During the interview, Shields shed light on a horrifying incident from her childhood.

‘T-Rex’ said, “We were on the second floor. My little brother was I was 16 that mean he was 13. My mom passed out in the living room.”

“I guess the stove, whatever she was cooking, got so strong that she passed out. At first, I got up the whole house was smoky. This was a new house. I carried her outside and then when I got outside, where I couldn’t breathe and actually see because it was so smoky. I heard my little brother screaming in the far back room. So I just felt on the walls, coughing and everything.”

“I got into the back room. My little brother was at the window panicking like that’s what he was panicking. So when I got to the backroom, I grabbed him and I tried to open the window and I couldn’t get the window open either. Tried to go back through the door that I came in, I couldn’t find it. I couldn’t find the door. So we ran back to the window. All we had to do was flip the dang thing and then push the window up. But he was just trying to push it up because he was panicking. So I pushed the window up and I just grabbed him and threw him out and I jumped down after him.”

What is next for Claressa Shields?

Claressa Shields is one of the greatest female combat personalities of all time. After dominating the boxing universe, she turned her attention towards MMA. She made her MMA debut against debut against Brittney Elkin at PFL 4.

Shields secured her maiden MMA victory in style with a knockout win over Elkin. Now she will face Abigail Montes inside the cage in her second MMA fight at one of the biggest PFL events this year. The attention on the card will be immense, as Kayla Harrison will fight Taylor Guardado in the lightweight tournament finals.
