Current UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira has had a tricky journey to the top of the division. Despite the struggles, he did the unthinkable. He signed with the UFC a decade after turning professional and claimed five wins in five fights, earning a title shot against Jon Jones. After the loss, he struggled to get top wins under his belt.

In 2019, things took an amazing turn, and he went on a five-fight win streak once again to earn another title shot. This time, he brought out his best and submitted Jan Blachowicz in the second round at UFC 267.

Now, the champion, who is ready to make his first title defense, will do so at UFC 274. The card may take place in Brazil, and he can’t wait to return there as the champion.

In an interview, he said, “I heard was a May fight in Brazil and I was already confident that I was going to get that fight. It happens. I’m very excited to go back to Rio, city that I trained for, many years there. Before I was in UFC, I was fighting in Rio de Janeiro and now come back as a champion, it’s great.”

Glover Teixeira and Jiri Prochazka will collide at UFC 274

Glover Teixeira‘s road to the light heavyweight title hasn’t been easy and the journey ahead doesn’t seem to be getting any easier. For his first defense, he will take on the dangerous Czech MMA fighter, Jiri Prochazka, at UFC 274.

Prochazka is an elite striker and has become one of the biggest names in the division, despite having only two UFC fights. The former Rizin light heavyweight champion signed with the UFC in 2020 and destroyed former title challenger Dominick Reyes in 2021.
