A bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre is a dream for the MMA community. Nurmagomedov is a legend who retired from the sport in 2021 with a clean record of twenty-nine victories and zero losses. While St-Pierre proclaimed his retirement from the sport on February 21, 2019. ‘Rush’ retired with a whopping record of thirty-six victories and two losses. Many also considered similar to ‘The Eagle’, ‘Rush’ the greatest fighter. Hence, a bout between the two legends is a dream for many. Now that both of these great fighters have retired, fans still want the big fight to come to fruition.

Over time, a lot of things have changed, and presently, the world is excited about a showdown between tech giants Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. UFC legend Chael Sonnen, who came forward to talk about the fight between the Twitter CEO and Meta CEO, ended up talking about how the UFC president, Dana White, knew that the bout between GSP and ‘The Eagle’ wouldn’t take place. He reveals that White’s lack of interest is the reason behind the fight not taking place.

Chael Sonnen was talking in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel. During the conversation, he talked about the possibility of a showdown between Zuckerberg and Musk. Along with this subject, ‘The American Gangster’ mentioned Dana White’s take on the bout between Nurmagomedov and GSP.

Sonnen said, “I was involved in GSP and Khabib and Dana was telling me ‘Hey he doesn’t want this.’ I’ve done this enough times, I know by the tone that fight’s not gonna happen. Stop wasting your time on it. Just by example, bet you’d like to hear the rest of that story, wouldn’t you?” After revealing the matter, the retired UFC legend went back to talk about the upcoming bout between the tech giants.

There existed a concrete possibility of the fight between the two MMA titans taking place at one point of time but it never materialized.

Khabib Nurmagomedov versus Georges St-Pierre never materialized

 Georges St-Pierre has already mentioned that he would come out of retirement if a bout between him and Nurmagomedov was possible. When GSP talked in the Full Send Podcast, he mentioned how he anticipated a bout between him and ‘The Eagle’ like every other UFC fan. ‘Rush’ also stated that he expected Nurmagomedov to call him out after his bout against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.

Instead of going for a battle against the greatest fighter in the UFC, the Dagestani decided to retire. This came as an enormous shock for GSP. However, he feels that things ended in legendary fashion for the two fighters. There is very little chance that the bout between Nurmagomedov and GSP would materialize in the future. However, if it did, it would pave the way for a grand celebration among the fans.
