The temptation of being a three-division champ has now engulfed Henry Cejudo. ‘The Messenger’ not only wants to return to the octagon but also wants a title fight on arrival. However, after announcing ‘The Korean Zombie’ as Max Holloway’s replacement, it is evident that UFC President Dana White isn’t on the same page as ‘Triple C’.

In a chat with Adam Catterall of BT Sport, White gave his brutally honest take on Cejudo‘s demand. Fans may entertain the idea of a comeback-super-fight, but that’s not how it works inside the head honcho’s arena.

“This guy’s retired; he’s been off for how many years now? He wants to come in and fight Alexander Volkanovski?… For Cejudo to retire and think he should just be able to come in and jump into any weight division and take on the champion – it’s not how it works,” White told Catterall.

However, White’s analogy did not sit right with Cejudo. The former UFC champion made his case by slandering welterweight G.O.A.T. Georges St-Pierre.

On Saturday, Cejudo took to Twitter to make his case. “So if I had blonde hair and blue eyes or if I was a Canadian with a accent,maybe you would give it to me? I defend both my belts unlike GPS. I left on top and retired on that Monday to give the rest of the division’S a chance. You are plain out scared that I will win.@danawhite.” 

How do Henry Cejudo and Georges St-Pierre compare?

Henry Cejudo, in his latest tweet, compared himself to the groundbreaking Canadian Mixed Martial Artist Georges St-Pierre. Although Cejudo may want to put himself in the same category as ‘Rush’, that’s not quite the case.

The Canadian Karate ace retired after an astounding career as the UFC welterweight champion. Later, after a long hiatus, ‘Rush’ returned to the octagon and defeated middleweight champion Michael Bisping to become a multi-divisional champ.

In both of the cases, ‘GSP’ was quick to vacate his titles, as he didn’t want to hold on to them without a fight. There were never any comments about him returning for anything.

While Cejudo also vacated his belt fast, there were always murmurs of him returning. He himself admitted that Dana White “knows the number” to get him back to fight. Hence, the retirement was seen as a ploy to renegotiate pay with Dana White.
