One of the most vicious trash talkers of UFC, Conor McGregor, talked highly about his former rival Jose Aldo. Both former featherweight fighters collided against each other at UFC 194 in 2015. Where ‘The Notorious knockout out the Brazilian in just 13 seconds of the first round.

The bout was previously scheduled to take place at UFC 189. But Aldo pulled out of the fight due to a rib injury. This didn’t sit well with McGregor and he left no chance to troll the Brazilian for backing out from the fight.

During one of the press conferences, the Irishman accused Aldo of running away from the fight. And also claimed to end his career once they enter the UFC cage. He said, He is petrified, he went running before. So now I am gonna take the opposite approach…. Tell him it’s gonna be alright. And hopefully, get him into that octagon on December 12th and then end his career.”

However, over the years, the animosity between the combatants has dissolved. Also, both McGregor and Aldo have shown respect to each other several times. Not only that, but the former two-division champion also backed Aldo for his decision to move down at bantamweight.

In an interview with TheMacLife McGregor said, “The game is very forgetful….. The disrespect Aldo received, for example, and people saying people are done. If you look at Glover Teixeira, who’s now a UFC champion. It’s important to just block out that noise because it’s dribble.”

“It’s never what it is. And I’m very happy for José and seeing what he’s been doing. And I look forward to having the exact same thing myself,” McGregor concluded.

Conor McGregor wants a title shot in the welterweight division

‘The Notorious’ during the span of his UFC career has dominated the featherweight division. However, he has also competed in the lightweight division and although he is a former champion there as well, he could only find minimum success in the 155lbs weight category. He has a record of 1-3 in that division.

The Irishman has also dipped his hands in the 170lbs category, where he has two wins and only one loss. Given his 2-1 score, McGregor feels comfortable making a comeback in the welterweight division.

He has fully recovered from the injury he faced in July 2021. And is eyeing a fight against the welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Although he has a good record in the welterweight division, a title fight on his return is unlikely. But nothing can be said, as McGregor has always been on the good side of the promotion.
