Despite calling it a day three years back, Georges St-Pierre still receives umpteen call-outs from the active UFC champions and contenders. While some contests allure him, ‘GSP’ will not return for any of those callous unless it offers him something more.

The former dual champion is one of the true veterans in the sport. Thus, he has nothing else to prove. However, Georges St-Pierre would still return if it’s a matchup against current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. It is the only contest that can bring back ‘GSP’ inside the octagon.

Khabib and ‘GSP’ have been compared by fight fans for many years. Being two of the most dominant grapplers, a matchup between them will determine the best. That said, GSP is retired and Khabib has maintained that he would take only one more fight after his upcoming title defense at UFC 254. He wants to fight ‘Rush’. Hence, if UFC administrators can bring them under terms, we might see the most-awaited fight ever in combat sports.

Georges St-Pierre calls it “scary” to face Khabib Nurmagomedov

‘GSP’ says that a fight against Khabib would be scary. He has a point as Khabib has been one of the most dominant fighters in UFC, boasting an undefeated MMA record of 28-0. He has dominated every single opponent in his career.

But many believe that can change if he faces GSP. In an interaction with ESPN, he said. “If I ever come back, I am not coming back for many fights. If I come back, it would be one fight that I need to take for me the biggest fish.”

“For me, I believe the top-guy right now, the name is Khabib. As a fighter the most exciting thing is to take the guy that seems invincible, unbeatable, you now he has the aura of invincibility but it’s also the scariest thing to do.”

Despite being an all-time great, GSP has gone through several battles on a personal stage to reach the top. He revealed that he was scared ahead of every fight. That’s what drives the best performance out of him.

GSP said, “When you fight you are always scared, I am always scared, people sometimes saying to me ‘oh you are scared to fight this guy’, yeah I am scared to fight everybody. I am always afraid and I am not gonna change anything, it’s a subjectivity, I am always scared.”

The former welterweight champion added, “I perform at my best when I am scared but even though I am scared, I am gonna make the walk, I am gonna walk the walk and do my job on the night if the fight.”

So, it’s not bizarre to expect Khabib vs GSP as the final contest of both the fighter’s career. Do you see this fight taking place in 2021?
