‘I Showed My Respect for Boxing’- Anderson Silva Opens Up on Controversial Split Decision

Anderson Silva is one of the greatest fighters of all time. He has an impressive professional MMA resume under his name. After dominating the MMA world, ‘The Spider’ turned his focus towards boxing. The former UFC champion showed sheer dominance against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in an eight-round boxing match on June 19.

After winning the bout, Anderson expressed his love for boxing in an interview with MMA Junkie. While talking about his win against the former world champion, Silva said, “I am a fighter I can’t control nothing outside, but inside I can control.

He added, “And today I showed my respect for boxing and showing my talent in the work that my team do it.”

Anderson Silva ended a boxing hiatus of 16 years as he competed in his third boxing match. The former UFC middleweight champion faced Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (son of boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez) at ‘Tribute to the kings’ in Guadalajara Mexico.

Both the men put out an amazing 8 round scrap for the combat fans. The fight started slow, however, Silva dominated in the third round of the bout. The UFC veteran gave a glimpse of his most famous hand-dropping and taunting move. Hence, it was definitely a nostalgic moment for ‘Silva’s fans.

‘The Spider’ reflected confidence through all the rounds. Chavez Jr.’s body shot and jabs were all in vain as they didn’t do any damage to Silva. The legendary fighter opened up Chavez Jr. in the seventh round of the bout, showing his class in the ring.

After an outstanding performance, Anderson Silva won the fight via split decision (75-77, 77-75, 77-75) to improve his professional boxing record to 2-1.
