Weight cutting is a practice followed by almost every combat sport athlete to compete in a weight class. Though some enjoy the process, most fighters find it incredibly gruelling. Popular UFC fighters such as Khabib Nurmagomedov, Khamzat Chimaev, Paulo Costa, and Darren Till to name a few, have struggled with cutting weight. Now, we can add another fighter to that list.
Former UFC and BKFC fighter, Paige VanZant revealed in a recent podcast episode with her husband her struggles with weight cutting. However, the OnlyF*ns model’s weight-cutting experience had an unusual twist.

In a recent podcast episode of AKickAssLoveStory, Austin Vanderford and Paige VanZant gave their differing views on weight cutting. While Vanderford had positive things to say about weight cutting, VanZant disagreed and gave her harsh experience with the whole process.
Austin Vanderford stated that the best feeling in the world was how you feel after a weight cut. Vanderford grew up wrestling his whole life which might explain his fondness for the weight-cutting process. Vanderford stated, “My body feels so good. I feel so clean and like cleaned out”

However, Vanderford’s wife, Paige VanZant, revealed otherwise, claiming that she doesn’t feel the same as her husband. “No TMI. TMI. Here I go. Every time I can’t wait. Yeah, I shit my pants.” Stated VanZant, hilariously explaining her problems with weight cutting.

Paige VanZant seems to have a more common experience with weight-cutting compared to Vanderford’s experience. Improper weight-cutting has been known to hamper the performances of fighters. And in worst-case scenarios, even hospitalize the fighters. One such instance took place with MMA legend, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

As mentioned earlier, weight-cutting has affected a large number of UFC fighters in the past. If not done properly, it is quite dangerous for the fighters. Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is considered as the lightweight GOAT, has struggled to make weight for the lightweight limit. However, this became quite serious in his fight against Tony Ferguson at UFC 209.
Khabib Nurmagomedov had to be rushed to the hospital on the morning of the weigh-ins of UFC 209. He experienced severe liver pain due to him being crucially dehydrated. However, Nurmagomedov managed to deal with the weight cuts more efficiently, which led him to have a successful reign as champion in the UFC lightweight division.
