In a stunning display of resilience, Charles Oliveira catapulted himself back into the win column at UFC 289, dispatching Beneil Dariush in the opening round with a knockout victory. The Brazilian fighter had recently suffered a major upset, losing the lightweight title to Islam Makhachev after an impressive 11-fight winning streak that had spanned nearly 9 months. However, Oliveira’s triumphant performance in the Canada-based event has reignited the anticipation for a rematch between ‘Do Bronx’ and the Dagestani fighter.
The conversation surrounding this highly anticipated rematch is buzzing with excitement. While fans and analysts speculate about the potential outcome, the Iranian fighter, Dariush, has also offered his thoughts on the matter. Despite having his own 8-fight winning streak snapped by Oliveira, Dariush believes that the reigning UFC lightweight champion would still pose a considerable challenge for him.

Furthermore, Dariush analyzed how he envisions a rematch between Oliveira and Makhachev unfolding. “In terms of grappling, wrestling specifically, I still see too many holes in his game. In terms of striking, yeah, I honestly didn’t get a good feel for him. I felt a little bit of his speed, a little bit of his timing… I think he’s going to do much better than the last time. But I still think it’s going to be a hard fight for him against Makhachev.”
Following UFC 289, both Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira engaged in a war of words, further stoking the fire of anticipation for a rematch between the two fighters. The exchange of verbal jabs between the former champion and the rising contender only added fuel to the already blazing anticipation for their potential clash inside the octagon.
