‘I Think About It Every Day’- Alexander Volkov Targets the Title Fight After Ciryl Gane

Alexander Volkov will clash against Ciryl Gane inside the octagon on June 26, 2021. Ahead of the bout, the Russian fighter addressed the scenario and the importance of this match in a pre-fight interview.
‘Drago’ has envisioned a title fight next if he gets past Ciryl Gane. While in a pre-fight interview he said, “I am making four fightings a year, and it’s enough to top ranks really quick main thing is to win every fight and to show best of myself. It’s a really good fight for me and I just want to show everybody that I’m better in everything. Of course, I’m feeling that I’m ready for the title fight I’m thinking about it every day.

“Now my fight is with CG and will the best performance I can. Of course, my team motivates me a lot, and also my family. Everybody who’s close to me who helps me with this who believes in me all this motivated me but of course, I’m just looking for the belt. I’m believing in myself in this fight because I think I’m better in everything and I am trying to show it. We will see how it happens but I believe I worked a lot, I trained hard and I am trying all the best”
The 32-year-old holds a strong record in the heavyweight roster and could be a good prospect for the heavyweight gold. However, he must outlast the French fighter who is #3 in the division for a possible title fight.

Will Alexander Volkov get a title shot?
The (33-8) record holder has an impressive professional MMA career. He has appeared in a total of 41 fights. The latter has a record of 22 wins via T/KO and 3 submissions win in his career. However, Volkov is yet to win a UFC heavyweight gold under his name.

Volkov is on a two-win streak right and will look to continue it against Ciryl Gane on June 26. It is an important match for Volkov as a victory might decide the next title contender. Even though Volkov has few losses on his resume, he has defeated many excellent fighters in the heavyweight roster.

With his excellent takedown defense, and high-volume strikes Volkov might give a hard time to Gane inside the cage. If the Russian fighter could bag himself a win against Gane, he could easily be in the talks for the heavyweight title shot. However, Jon Jones and Derrick Lewis are also in the picture.
