2022 is going to see many storylines within the UFC come full circle. Both male and female Bantamweight divisions crowned new champions, and it seems like 2022 will finally decide their fate. Julianna Pena will defend her title against ‘The Lioness’ Amanda Nunes. Meanwhile Aljamain “Funkmaster” Sterling is on a collision course with interim champion Petr Yan.
Ahead of their highly anticipated clash this year, the reigning champion has lobbed new accusations against the former champion. He has been attacking the Russian fighter and now has called him yet again.

Petr Yan is a cheater claims Aljamain Sterling
Sterling shared a shocking tweet on his account a few days ago that suggested every Russian fighter is a cheater. Now, the champion has offered another statement to clear the air. He suggested that he does not want to loop any fighter from any nationality based on the acts of dirty athletes.

It would not be fair to do that, as dishonest people can exist everywhere. He then took aim at the former champion, once again claiming that he is a cheater.
For the record, I do not think every Russian fighter or athlete cheats. Just like every American, Brazilian, Chinese, or any other nationality of athletes, you have the clean and dirty ones.
Personally I think Cheotr Yan is a dirty cheat. Maybe I’m wrong but I highly doubt it. https://t.co/NFWdQC4RGi

Fans can recall how things went in the first bout as Petr Yan dropped his title in the most unfortunate manner. A serious communication mishap between his coaches led to him striking a downed opponent with his knee. This disregard of the unified rules marred his title reign with a DQ loss. It is one thing to lose your title to a hungrier and extremely skilled fighter, but it is completely different to lose it via DQ.

Since that loss, Petr has already competed inside the octagon last year, picking up the interim title in Aljamain’s absence. The duo were originally intended to settle their score in 2021, but the ‘Funkmaster’ suffered an injury. Now in 2022, this rivalry can finally come to a close as Petr just managed to best another key contender and secured his place in the division as a clear number 1 contender.
