Jon Jones made an epic comeback to the UFC with a dominant win over Ciryl Gane to capture the promotion’s vacant heavyweight championship. It was his first-ever heavyweight bout, but he turned out to be victorious. Many people reacted to ‘Bones’s win on social media, including former UFC champion, Francis Ngannou.

Ngannou was the UFC heavyweight champion before it was put up for grabs at UFC 285. Due to failure in contract negotiations, UFC president Dana White decided to strip the French-Cameroonian fighter of the title. However, ‘The Predator’ reacted to Jones’s epic win on Twitter, while also reminding Jones that he is still the “heavyweight king.”

‘The Predator’ shared some rather interesting things about what he thought about Jones. Ngannou said, “I knew that if [Jon] Jones shows up in a good space mentally, not like his last two fights, he’s gonna prevail in this fight.”

He added, “I didn’t see [think] this fight [would be] so short. I think this fight could have been longer.”

However, Ngannou mentioned that the new heavyweight champion’s performance straight surprised him out of the gate. He said, “I was surprised, though, by the way, the fight ended. And I think seeing even Ciryl’s [Gane] reaction, he was surprised as well.”

The former UFC heavyweight champion was of the opinion that ‘Bon gamin’ wasn’t defending himself well enough. “He [Gane] wasn’t even defending. He wasn’t thinking that a submission can come from where he was at.”

“Jon didn’t want to give him [Gane] space because …I think he was afraid …maybe of getting exhausted at some point, not being able to grab him. So he was chasing him,” said Ngannou. He like that ‘Bones’ kept rushing forward in the fight and believes it was fruitful.

Nagannou was impressed with the fight and claims that it was a fun one. He also mentions that he would like to fight Jon Jones. But unfortunately, he thinks the fight will probably never take place. While the new heavyweight champion of the UFC might take on Stipe Miocic in his next fight, it remains to be seen what Ngannou will do ahead in his combat career.
