Former middleweight world champion, ‘The Reaper’ Robert Whittaker (24-5-0) is eyeing his rematch with reigning champion, Israel Adesanya (21-1-0). The Nigerian native found himself in the crosshair of Whittaker back in 2019 at UFC 243. The Epic Clash saw ‘The Last Style bender’, claiming the world title with a vicious knockout victory over the former champion.

The 31-year-old Australian fighter is hoping to right the wrong and exact revenge on his rival. In the midst of their previous clash, a whole lot of things have happened in the division. Whittaker has managed to rake up a number of key victories, whereas Adesanya has defended his throne multiple times, but also suffered his first loss at the hands of Jan Błachowicz at UFC 259. The Reaper is hoping to use the blueprints laid out by his compeer and use it to beat Stylebender in the upcoming rematch.

He said,” I think, If I can get in there and utilize my full skillset and take the fight to different angles, and give them different looks, and showcase different weapons, I think I will make him uncomfortable. I think that’s what Jan did very well, I think I can do it better”

Can Robert Whittaker back up his game plan at UFC 271?

It is one thing to talk about, and it is another to share your gameplay about your upcoming world title fight with the world. Surely, Adesanya is not the one to look past the imminent threat that Whittaker can pose with his new approach.

Former light-heavyweight champion, Blachowicz foiled the Kiwi fighter’s hopes of becoming a two-weight world champion. In doing so, he also exposed an obvious flaw that wrestlers of the middleweight division never exploited. Although this might be true, Blachowicz also enjoyed a massive weight and size advantage, which helped him to control the fight.
