Alex Pereira is a fearless fighter. Fans saw glimpses of his grit and determination when he defeated Israel Adesanya at UFC 281. Adesanya was tipped to win the fight and had excellent control over the fight; before Pereira threw the kitchen sink at Adesanya and knocked him out with his rock-solid punches. There is, however, a fighter who scares ‘The Poatan‘.
Alex Pereira fought Sean Strickland in July earlier this year at UFC 276. Pereira won the fight in the very first round. Alex Pereira, however, disclosed that he was scared of Sean Strickland when he entered the Octagon. Strickland is a former King of the Cage middleweight champion. He has been fighting professionally since 2008.

Before losing to Alex Pereira, Sean Strickland had stitched up a six fights winning streak. Alex Pereira had accepted before UFC 276 that he was not taking Strickland’s threat lightly. Pereira had mentioned that he had been watching Strickland’s previous fights to understand the potential and the danger Strickland could be posing.
Sean Strickland scared Alex Pereira
Alex Pereira said that he had a certain respect for Strickland; given that he was experienced and ranked #4 in the middleweight division. Pereira, however, disclosed that he got relaxed when he heard Strickland talking outside the Octagon and even before the weigh-in.
It was, however, Strickland’s change in demeanor as he entered the Octagon that worried Pereira. ‘The Poatan‘ in an interview in Spanish said, ” I thought, this guy is going to kill me “. He also mentioned that the very intense looks from Strickland actually made him cautious. He said he would have been casual and in danger of being defeated if Strickland would have goofed around.

Alex Pereira’s rematch with Israel Adesanya
Alex Pereira’s middleweight title has surprised many fans. It was not the first time that ‘The Poatan’ defeated Adesanya. ‘The Last Stylebender‘ has fought Pereira twice in the past and he has lost both fights. The earlier fights were kickboxing fights.
