Charles Oliveira was scheduled to go head-to-head at UFC 288 against Beneil Dariush. It would have been his first fight since losing the lightweight title to Islam Makhachev. It was a potential no.1 contender fight for the title, but ‘Do Bronx’ had to opt out due to an injury he suffered during training. Oliveira has opened up about it in a recent post on Instagram.

‘Do Bronx’ was on an 11-fight winning streak before suffering the loss at UFC 280 back in October 2022. However, he was looking to bounce back from the loss, but an injury has caused the fight against ‘Benny’ to be postponed at a future date.

Oliveira also mentioned that he would have loved to fight at the next UFC pay-per-view since two of his teammates will also be fighting in the same event. He added, “[Fighting at UFC 288] would be great because I would be fighting on the same night of two teammates, ‘Willycat’ [Daniel Santos] and Rolando [Bedoya], but God knows all things. We will continue working and stay focussed.”
