Derrick ‘The Black Beast’ Lewis returns to the UFC octagon this weekend after defeating Chris Daukaus at UFC Fight Night 199. On February 12, 2022, the fighter will face heavyweight fighter Tai Tuivasa at UFC 271 in Houston, Texas. A win against Tai Tuivasa could once again make Lewis a top contender for the heavyweight title.

According to a recent report from MMA Fighting reporter Shaheen Al-Shatti, Derrick Lewis went off at the current UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou.

The reporter wrote on Twitter,” Derrick Lewis today, asked if he watched Ngannou-Gane: I didn’t watch the fight. I’ll be damned if I pay Francis any money out of my pocket for his PPVs. I tried to stream it, but they kept getting shut down.”

Derrick Lewis has beaten Francis Ngannou back in 2018, at UFC 226. He won the bout via unanimous decision. However, the match was heavily criticized for both fighters’ lack of action. Even though Lewis conquered Ngannou the last time they fought, he didn’t seem to be very fond of the Cameroonian fighter.
As of February 10th, 2022, ‘The Black Beast’ stands third in the UFC men’s heavyweight rankings. He holds the record of having the most knockouts in UFC history.

Tai Tuivasa is also a knockout artist and will look to finish the fight as soon as he can at UFC 271. Tuivasa has won 12 of his 13 wins in his career via knockout.

Even though both fighters are finishers, Derrick Lewis has an advantage of experience and is currently in terrific form. Lewis’ career victories include wins against current top heavyweights Francis Ngannou, Curtis Blaydes, and Alexander Volkov.
