Do you know of any fighter who survived a nasty elbow to the temple? Yes, that’d be Bruno Silva. Not only did he get hit in a vital spot, but he was also taken out of Bell Centre, Montreal, during UFC 315, on a stretcher. The entire world was left in concern as they noticed that ‘Blindado’ wasn’t moving, and later complained of neck pain. Even his opponent, the man who elbowed him, Marc-Andre Barriault, was worried. Following the fight, he said, “I’m speechless right now. I hope Bruno’s going to be fine.” And hours later, the world rejoiced as the first piece of good news came through regarding Silva’s health update.

You see, getting hit in the temples can damage the superficial temporal artery, which risks causing a serious hemorrhage. It can even result in death if not promptly treated, as it happened with John Cooney earlier in 2025. On top of that, there is a high chance of cranial fractures as well – that was exactly the case when Michael ‘Venom’ Page sent a flying knee to Cyborg Santos’ face and cracked his cranium at Bellator 158.

MMA journalists, including Luke Thomas, Ben Davis, and many others, immediately shared gruesome visuals of the Brazilian getting elbowed. Through those visuals, the world began to speculate on the damage. According to them, Silva apparently got a dent in his head because of the elbow. Thankfully, the internet soon started booming with the words “All X-rays negative, all imaging normal,” and the first wave of relief washed over the MMA world.

Later on, the Brazilian shared a story on his Instagram profile to update the world on his health. He wrote in Portuguese, “Good night, just letting you know that I’m fine, I went to the hospital, had tests, everything is okay with my health. I received many messages from people who really like me, I was fine, I wanted to win to give my testimony, of everything I went through and managed to get up, but it’s part of life. I am a victor, this is not the moment that will end my story and my legacy. God all honor and all glory.”

And now, on 12 May 2025, he shared another update with the fans through an Instagram reel, where he claimed that he was physically alright, and was going to focus on his family for now. In the caption, he wrote, “I’m fine guys, thanks for the love and respect. My legacy is written, but there is a beginning, middle and end, it’s not a goodbye, but now I want to live and enjoy my family, who knows one day I’ll be back, right? See you soon 🙏🏼.”

Needless to say, the fighting community was relieved to know that the Brazilian middleweight contender is alright now. It’s nothing short of a miracle for a man to come out of such instance without much damage. As soon as he dropped the reel, fight fans took over the comments section. Let’s see what they had to say.

Well, gratitude should also go to Dana White and Co. for their prompt response in medical emergencies. No doubt, that quickness had a major role to play in giving Silva the attention he needed. It’s worth noting that not too long before his fight against Barriault, ‘Blindado’ revealed that he wanted to retire. Nevertheless, the calls for the Brazilian’s retirement were also high. He is already on a 5-fight losing streak. And given White’s trend of removing fighters from the roster, we might expect the 35-year-old to be next. One fan wrote, “Its time to retire Already gave what had to be given.
