Jorge Masvidal is a veteran of the fighting game. The ‘Gamebred’ has a total of 51 fights under his belt. He also holds the record for the fastest knockout in the UFC. All these facts are pieces of evidence of how deeply Masvidal understands the fighting game. Masvidal is now trying his hands at fight promotion. He is now working on his promotion iKon Fighting Championship.

Jorge Masvidal revealed his plans and visions for iKon FC in a recent interview. Masvidal said that he wanted to take up promotions because he had an eye for fighters. He also mentioned that he really wanted to find future fighting stars and create a platform for budding fighters. He said, “I want to put a dog vs. a dog, so the people know there’s no politics in this of agencies or companies.”

Talking about his vision for iKon FC, Masvidal said, “Right now, it’s getting the stars of tomorrow and then have them go to the UFC, but have them come through my promotion first. And something I don’t want is to have people come to build records. Sure, it can happen, say someone is debuting, or they’re maybe coming off bad losses and need an easier fight, but generally, I want to put on fights.”

Jorge Masvidal wants to bring more Latin American fighters
Masvidal plans on bringing in more Latin American fighters into the mix. He admitted to having a special connection with Spanish and wants to work with his roots. Masvidal is the best-known Hispanic fighter in MMA currently. He has a very good understanding of what his promotion is right now, but holds ambitions for it in the future.

The iKon FC has seen 5 events in the past and the 6th is scheduled for December 2nd in Orlando. Masvidal’s old friend Dean Toole has been working with him for iKon FC.

Masvidal wants to make iKon FC a must watch
Although the promotion is comparatively new, Masvidal has big plans for the future. He had earlier said, “When fighters see what we end up doing six months to a year from now, we’re going to generate a lot of traction because I know things that I can definitely bring into the fight game,”
