Israel Adesanya fights Marvin Vettori in a rematch next weekend at UFC 263. The middleweight champion will look to defend his belt for the third time in the process. Ahead of the fight, Adesanya has vowed to finish Vettori this time.

The duo had previously clashed in 2018. It was Adesanya’s second fight in the Octagon. ‘Stylebender’ earned a split decision to win that fight.

But many believed he should have won a unanimous one. Adesanya won 2 rounds of the contest clearly in experts’ eyes. But judge Chris Lee scored it 29-28 in Vettori’s favor.

In the recent UFC 263 countdown video, Izzy was watching that fight along with his coach. He was convinced he won 2 rounds. He also said that Vettori only laid on him in the final round and did no damage. So, he doesn’t quite agree with the decision, it’s fair to say.

I know one thing for sure, I am taking this one super serious. Even though I already beat him, I just have to make that statement again. F*ck I want to wreck this guy man,” said Adesanya in what one can consider a chilling warning to his opponent.

There have been some recent back-and-forth between the duo as well. Both men are of outspoken behavior. So, it’s not surprising to see them trading jabs before the fight.

The biggest deciding factor will be which fighter can use their strength. Adesanya is a striking wizard. Vettori has basic stand-up with good grappling.

How Adesanya’s grappling holds up against ‘The Italian Dream’, remains to be seen. Also, if Vettori can stand and trade with ‘Stylebender’, will be deciding in the contest.

Nevertheless, fans are in for a treat when they collide inside the Octagon. Fireworks are guaranteed. Also, Izzy has proved to be a step ahead of the rest of the middleweight division so far. It will be interesting to see if he can live up to his standards.
