When Ciryl Gane‘s opponent was announced as Sergey Spivak, people thought it was a bad matchup for him. A lot of people warned Gane and were under the impression that Spivak would get the better of him. However, at UFC Paris, Gane displayed exceptional skills and temperament. He asserted complete domination and took the win.

The question that is on everybody’s mind right now is this: Who is next for Ciryl Gane? Will he be getting a title shot next? While there are quite a few names in the mix, one name that rises above all and is widely considered to be his next potential opponent is Tom Aspinall. However, it seems that Gane is somewhat hesitant about taking that fight. After UFC Paris, something happened that has Aspinall skeptical about this matchup as well.

Ciryl Gane shocked the world as he rocked Spivak multiple times and dominated the entire fight. He has been working on himself after his humiliating defeat at the hands of the current HW champ Jon Jones. His spectacular win at UFC Paris confirmed that he is now a different fighter.

However, it seems he is still hesitant about fighting his next opponent. While nothing has been confirmed as of yet, sources suggest that his next opponent will likely be Tom Aspinall. But, it appears Gane is not open to the idea of fighting Aspinall at this moment. Even the UFC doesn’t seem to be entertaining the idea and they made that abundantly clear when Aspinall tried to face off against Gane after his win at UFC Paris.

In a recent interview with The Mac Life on YouTube, the interviewer pointed out that Gane has been avoiding the topic of Aspinall and the idea of fighting him next. Apparently, ‘Bon Gamin’ has said that he is gunning for the title and that he doesn’t want to fight Aspinall in a cage fight. The interviewer then asked him what he thought of Gane’s disposition towards him and the entire situation.

Yeah, I’m – I’m not… I’m not a bully, do you know what I mean? If he doesn’t want the fight I’m not gonna try and force it on him.“, clarified Aspinall. Talking about the unpleasant situation that transpired after UFC Paris, Aspinall said, “I wanted to go in the cage… the UFC didn’t want me to go in the cage.“.

Yeah, if he wants to fight, it’s here. If he doesn’t want the fight… we’ll see. I know that I’m a bad matchup for him. I think that… stylistically it’s a good matchup for me but if he doesn’t want it, then… I understand.“, concluded the Heavyweight fighter.

Gane suffered a devastating loss at the hands of Jon Jones at UFC 285 and went straight back to the gym to rediscover himself and work on himself. He did just that and beat Sergey Spivak – one of the most dangerous Heavyweights on the roster. Now, it seems Gane is looking for the title shot.

Current Heavyweight champ Jon Jones is scheduled to fight Stipe Miocic at UFC 295. If Miocic wins, then Gane will fight Miocic for the title. However, if Jones prevails as the champ and defends his title, then Gane could not only get a shot at the title but also a shot at redemption for the harrowing defeat he suffered at Jones’ hands.

If Gane gets a straight ticket to the title shot, then it is safe to say that Tom Aspinall might have to wait till he gets his round with Gane. But as of now, nothing has been confirmed and all eyes are on UFC President Dana White.
