Conor McGregor has now been a bit more active on social media following the verdict of his civil lawsuit. Recently, the Irishman came across a fan’s comparison of his title reign to that of fellow lightweight Charles Oliveira‘s and McGregor’s reign appeared to be a few days more than ‘Do Bronxs’. It didn’t take time for the former UFC double champion to respond, which he did with a rather bold statement.

Conor McGregor claims that he never lost his title and was made to relinquish the featherweight and the lightweight title a few years ago, which was due to his inactivity. He believes that he’s the only fighter in the UFC roster who’s yet to have the opportunity to defend his title.

“I was also stripped of both my World titles. I never lost my belts in competition. I am the last remaining truly unified FW and LW World title Champion. FACT,” Conor McGregor tweeted. However, when the Irishman returned to the Octagon in 2018 against Khabib Nurmagomedov, he did get a shot at the title as the Dagestan native held the championship back then, but he failed to reclaim it.

After Conor McGregor’s failure to regain his championship at UFC 229, the Irishman never competed for a world title ever again. But what transpired when he got stripped of his title by Dana White? Well, let’s have a look at that front.

The events that transpired after Conor McGregor got stripped of his two titles

The biggest star in UFC’s rise to fame was Conor McGregor and the day he became the first-ever simultaneous two-weight champion, he cemented his status as one of the MMA’s best. However, following his lightweight title win in 2016, McGregor would go away for almost two years out of action, which led Dana White to do two things. ‘The Notorious’ had to give up his 145-pound belt, and following that, Jose Aldo took over the reins as the undisputed featherweight champion.

On the other hand, Conor McGregor’s lightweight title was put up for grabs at UFC 223. Khabib Nurmagomedov would defeat Al Iaquinta for the title, which he later defended against the Irishman in their highly heated rivalry, which set up one of the biggest fights in the company’s history.

However, nothing is a done deal when it comes to McGregor, so before we get any news on that front, let us know what you think of his claims about his UFC career in the comments down below.
