After fighting, he switched to being a commentator and an essential member of the broadcast team. ‘The Count’ also developed a tremendous relationship with the UFC president, Dana White. However, things weren’t always good between the two UFC figures.

Michael Bisping is a Hall of Famer and one of the most notable fighters to represent the UFC. In a recent episode of his ‘Believe You Me’ podcast with Anthony Smith, ‘The Count’ talked about Dana White and how people perceive him to be a bad guy. However, he mentioned one experience that proved that the 53-year-old promoter is as good a person as they come.

Michael Bisping almost destroyed his friendship with Dana White

‘The Count’ mentioned one instance when he and Dana White got into a heated back and forth. Bisping didn’t share the whole story, but in short, he claimed that he was being rude to the promoter. He said, “I remember once we [he and Dana] were going back and forth and it was a long story and this is still when I was fighting and I was being a d*ck.” Bisping then proceeded to reveal that their conversation went to such a bad place that his friendship with Dana White could have been jeopardized. That was the moment when the 53-year-old shared a piece of valuable advice with him.

“We were having like an argument on the phone and he was like, ‘Mike, I think we should leave this to the weekend because we’re on the verge of ruining the friendship that we’ve had for a long time,’ and what great advice,” said Bisping.

The Hall of Famer later came to his senses and realized that he had made a mistake. When they met the next time. White and Bisping both shared a laugh about it, and ‘The Count’ did his fair share of apologizing to the UFC president. He said, “On Monday morning, we both laughed about it. We had a giggle. I apologized because I was being a total a**hole. I was in the wrong.”

Bisping praises the UFC president

Michael Bisping mentions that people often throw shade at Dana White due to some of his controversial actions. But, from his personal experience, the UFC president is a pretty good person. He said, “He is the head honcho [Dana White]. he is the man when it comes to mixed martial arts.” Bisping added, He’s a good dude and I know that personally.”

Furthermore, he claims to have many stories about White, but he believes that people may not take those stories into consideration, given that it does not fit their general narrative. He said, “I have got many, many stories, but people don’t wanna hear that because it doesn’t fit the narrative.”

With Bisping’s friendship still going strong with Dana White, he continues to be an integral part of the promotion. Moreover, during his fighting days, his trash talk and entertaining persona made UFC a must-watch sports promotion. We can say that both parties equally benefitted from the friendship they’ve built over the years.
