UFC Flyweight Jimmy Flick shocked the MMA community as he announced his retirement from the sport. Flick, a Dana White’s Contender Series alumnus, grabbed all sorts of headlines in the last fight card of 2020. He submitted Cody Durden.

‘The Brick’ retired from the sport with a record of 16-5. But at 30, his decision was very unexpected and rather uncalled for.

I tried to push myself I tried to justify why I was doing what I was doing. Over Easter weekend, I had a conversation with my father. I haven’t talked to my father very much.

“And that conversation made a big difference on me in life. I thought my dad was gonna change his life to come be in my corner in the UFC to be there,” Flick started.

I thought that would change my dad’s life, thought it would change my brother’s life. sat him, let him know, you know, I still want you all there. I want you all in my life. I believe in y’all. I love y’all. Like we did this together and didn’t make a difference.

“So I found out, I was fighting for all the wrong reasons. I was still fighting, to try to get my dad back, to get my brother back,” added the submission specialist.

But Flick revealed he couldn’t get his family back together and despite trying to contact him, he is yet to talk to his father after his revelation. His passion is not there anymore, and he doesn’t feel driven to achieve bigger things.
