After six long years, Joe Rogan decided to drop another one of his comedy specials, ‘Joe Rogan: Burn the Boats’. The show took place at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Texas, and was the 57-year-old’s first-ever project on Netflix. However, Rogan recently revealed that he wanted no part of it when the global streaming platform put the offer on the table.

‘Joe Rogan: Burn the Boats’ received mixed reviews, and understandably so, since it’s been a long time since the commentator-podcaster-comedian performed on stage. But before he decided to do that, Rogan had been spending most of his time hanging out with his comedian friends at his comedy club in Austin, Texas, just having a good time.

“I was just enjoying working at the [comedy] club, owning, and then there’s so many good guys at the club. It was just such a f***ing hotspot… every night was just murderer’s row,” the 57-year-old stated on a recent JRE episode featuring A-list comedian, Adam Sandler. It was then that a potential offer to perform under the Netflix banner had come to his attention, but Joe Rogan would shut down that gig, informing his manager about it.

“When Netflix said they wanted to do a live special with me, at first, I was like, ‘F*** that, I don’t want to do that,’ and I said no. I told my manager [and] I was like, ‘No’. I called her on the phone and I was like, ‘What? I don’t want to do that,'” Joe Rogan added. But not too long after he made that decision, a moment alone made things change for the JRE host.

Joe Rogan was scared of another comedy special

The 57-year-old UFC lifer was traveling back home, presumably from his comedy club, and he happened to ponder on his decision to turn down the Netflix comedy gig. After some self-talk and introspection, he decided to give it a go. “Then I was driving home like, ‘Why are you scared to do that, you f**ing p**y?’ As I was driving home, I was like, thinking, and when I got home, I called her back. I go, ‘Don’t say no yet. Let me think,'” Rogan further stated.

However, having given a negative initial response, Joe Rogan’s manager wanted to feel convinced about his decision and commitment to the project. The longtime UFC commentator gave the green signal while admitting that he was feeling a bit nervous about the comedy special. “The next day, I said, ‘Alright, I’m going to do it’. She’s like, ‘Are you sure?’ I go, ‘Yeah, yeah. I’mma do it because I’m scared of it.’ I was f***ing terrified.” Joe Rogan added.
