Conor McGregor suffered a devastating injury in his last outing against his arch-rival Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 last year. Ever since then, the Dublin native has been away from the UFC octagon.

However, ‘The Notorious’ spent his time well recovering from the injury and being with his family. The former UFC champion is engaged to Dee Devlin, and the couple has three children together.

McGregor is a family man, and his family has been with him from his initial days to his rise in UFC. Hence, they are an important part of his life. However, after the injury, ‘The Notorious’ was upset about his sons seeing him in the wheelchair.

In a recent interview with Severe MMA, while talking about his recovery journey, McGregor said, “When I went to training camp, I had left my children behind and my family behind. The last time my son saw me before that fight. You know, I was 360 acrobatic martial arts to the air.”

“And then, you know, with the leg break, I was in the chair the next time I saw my sons. I was a bit upset about that. But they got to see you know better and better each time. So I knew that I was going to rub off on them the right way. And you know it worked out. So I am happy with it. I am almost back,” McGregor concluded.

‘The Notorious’ is a huge name in the fighting industry. However, the former double champion has only won once in his last four fights. And the injury last year has kept him away from the octagon.

However, the Irishman claimed he is recovered and might soon return to fighting this year. In the same interview, McGregor said, “Very good. It’s getting there day by day. Day by day, I feel better. They are telling me to just take it easy and you know; but I feel I can go.”

Although nothing has been official about his comeback, McGregor hinted at a return in the second quarter of the year, “…April, they said I can spar again… And I can box again, basically. So, I’m just gonna take it day by day.”- McGregor concluded.
