Paddy Pimblett gives clarification on the voice notes shared by Ariel Helwani

Paddy Pimblett recently sat down for an interview with SevereMMA, where the 28-year-old delved into a number of topics, including his last controversial win and the subsequent backlash. As the interview drew to a close, the interviewer asked him to reflect upon his beef with Ariel Helwani.

In response, the UFC prospect noted that it had been a crazy scenario, but he didn’t shy away from touching upon the voice notes matter. “I’ve got all of that[too]. I’ve got lot on me phone… The voice notes [are] the funniest, because it said I’m coming to see him.”, said Pimblett.

Furthermore, Pimblett quickly clarified, “I don’t say on those voice notes that I’m coming on the MMA Hour. I say, ‘What are you doing? Do you want to meet up?’ Because at that time, I actually considered Ariel a friend. But obviously I was never a friend to him.”

Later in the interview, Paddy Pimblett made a major revelation, claiming that Ariel Helwani had wanted him to cancel paid interviews and instead do them for free.

‘The Baddy’ said, “He wanted me to cancel paid ways to come and do the interview with him for free. So I don’t understand how people think he’s right.” The 28-year-old further continued, “He wanted me to lose money, just to get him views.”

Pimblett’s comments make it clear that the tension between him and Helwani runs deep, and he doesn’t see himself and the Montreal-born journalist coming to good terms anytime soon.
