Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal lost to Kamaru Usman at the UFC 261 main event. The fight, which was touted to be one of the best of the night, ended fairly quickly. Usman knocked out ‘Gamebred’ in the second round via a massive right hand. Since that fight, many people have commented on the same and now UFC welterweight fighter Khamzat Chimaev has joined the talk.

Chimaev took to Twitter to challenge ‘Gamebred’ to a fight, “Tell Gamebred when he wake up from Saturday night I will fight him in August I’m not sure if he still sleeping”

Chimaev has been performing exceptionally well since his UFC debut. Last year the fighter won two fights across two divisions within 10 days. Later in the year, he defeated Gerald Meerschaert via a first-round KO at the UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Woodley.

Eventually, Chimaev was strangely booked to fight Leon Edwards, but the fight fell through because of COVID-19. Now, the fighter seems ready to compete and looks like he wants Masvidal to be his opponent.

Who will Khamzat Chimaev face next?

While Chimaev has called out Jorge Masvidal for a fight, there is one other fighter that has been linked with fighting Chimaev. UFC veteran Nick Diaz was present at the UFC 261 event, and Dana White has confirmed that Diaz is looking for a fight. And many people have speculated that Diaz will face Chimaev on his return to the Octagon.

Although it would be great to see these two fighters compete in the Octagon. It seems unlikely that Masvidal will accept ‘Broz’ on his offer, as at this point a fight with Chimaev does nothing for ‘Gamebred.’

Chimaev seems ready to get back into action and had even talked about going for championships across three divisions. Although Chimaev is one of the most talented fighters inside the Octagon and has achieved great success in his short UFC career, it seems a bit premature to challenge for three titles.

Whether Chimaev faces Masvidal or ends up facing Diaz, we do not know. Although one thing is sure- whenever the fighter steps back into the Octagon, it surely is going to be entertaining.
