Israel Adesanya just won one of the biggest fights of his career. Coming out of a loss against Alex Pereira in their first MMA fight at UFC 281, Adesanya had a lot to prove at UFC 287. Pereira and Adesanya’s rivalry goes way back, with the two having a storied kickboxing history.

The animosity between them had been brewing for years, and Adesanya closed the chapter the way he wanted to. ‘The Last Stylebender’ shocked the world by knocking Alex Pereira out in the second round. After coming back to the winning ways, Adesanya issued a warning to fellow middleweight Dricus Du Plessis.

Then now two-time middleweight champ used some very tough words for Dricus Du Plessis, who has been rising in the UFC ranks lately. Adesanya started by saying that he does not want to give Du Plessis any “clout”. However, the UFC star also said that he is willing to fight Du Plessis if he shows his worth as a title challenger.

“I wanna whoop his *ss so bad. I want to do it in South Africa or Nigeria. He has to do some work. He has got to do something, show me something, so I can whoop that *ss and I can show you history”.

Adesanya clearly was not impressed by Du Plessis’ comments on him and Kamaru Usman. “I’ll remind you coz you gotta choose words wisely when you speak on people that have come before you. People who have paved the way for you”, said Adesanya. “If he does work and I pray to god he keeps winning. I will gladly drag his carcass across South Africa,” he added.

Du Plessis’ ‘real African’ champion remarks angered Izzy

Adesanya’s comments were in response to Dricus’ statement at UFC 285. There, he questioned Adesanya and Kamaru Usman for not being ‘real Aricans’ because they do not currently live in Africa. He had also said that he was going to be the first ‘real’ African champion and take the UFC belt back to South Africa.
