As reported by BT Sport, White answered questions about the upcoming Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane fight, Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler‘s TUF filming, McGregor’s surprise appearance at the weigh-ins, and so on. While answering a question about “The Notorious” one’s return, White made another comment about himself in relation to the fighter pay criticism.

Dana White compares himself to his fighters in terms of finances

Jon Jones was out for almost three years before the UFC announced his fight earlier this year. The former light heavyweight champion relinquished his title and sat out over pay issues. He also used this time to put on muscle for his heavyweight debut.

By the time he returns, Conor McGregor will also have been out for almost two years since his injury at UFC 264. While there are these fighters who could afford to sit out without fighting for so long, that is not the case for White.

He said, “When you get to a level where you make as much money as some of these guys, Jon Jones has been gone for three years. There’s a lot of talk about money, a lot of bullsh*t talk about money. Let me tell you what, I couldn’t f***ing disappear for 3 years. I’d be broke as a joke if I disappear for 3 years.”

White’s comments are sure to ruffle some feathers among his harsh critics. McGregor and Jones are two of the biggest UFC stars at the moment. The money they make could be a far cry from what the average UFC fighter makes. In addition to that, a multi-millionaire like White comparing himself to his fighters could very well go down in poor taste.
