One of the most successful human beings on the planet, Joe Rogan is also an ardent Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. The longtime UFC commentator knows the time and effort it takes to become a skilled Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. Having earned a black belt himself, Rogan has also seen plenty of high-level Jiu-Jitsu-based fighters during his time in the UFC. Therefore, he knows the difference between those who just learn Jiu-Jitsu and people who train to be fighters.
In a recent episode of the JRE MMA Show, Rogan analyzed how little differences in training regimens can snowball into a huge difference in skills between athletes. The Spotify podcast host had UFC flyweight Gillian Robertson on episode #140 of the JRE MMA Show. A submission artist herself, Robertson and Rogan had a lengthy conversation and discussed Jiu-Jitsu and grappling at length.
While talking to her, Rogan recounted his own personal experience of how he fell behind in jiu-Jitsu classes despite being regular.

He continued, “I know it just from training jiu-jitsu. Even when I was training just 4 days a week, like really regularly, I would be in with those guys that are training 5, 6, 7, days a week and they would be getting better than me. I knew it. You could tell.”
Rogan also mentioned the mental struggle of choosing between balancing life with other activities and doing Jiu-Jitsu seven days a week.
