Chiefly, ‘The Notorious’ puffed out his chest on Twitter when journalist, Chamatkar Sandhu, tweeted a throwback about the aforementioned fight. However, Nate Diaz wasn’t having any of that and went on to fire heavy artillery towards the Irishman.

The explicit-filled rant was largely intended to remind McGregor that he didn’t do enough to come out on top.

Furthermore, Diaz also slid in a jab at the fact that it’s only McGregor’s profile that brings him immediate rematches. ‘The Notorious’ last fought at UFC 257 in January and was soundly defeated by Dustin Poirier via TKO. However, despite the decisive loss, Conor McGregor is on his way to getting a rematch in the summer of 2021.

Nate Diaz vs Conor McGregor 3 on the cards?

The aforementioned stars both have one victory each under their belt and a trilogy fight is in the wings. However, several years have elapsed and it seems as though the demand for a trilogy fight has greatly diminished. Fans have moved on from the initial excitement and are looking forward to other matchups on the horizon.

However, there’s no doubt that once the UFC books both men to fight, fans will once again be on board. Both men are currently coming off losses and will be desperately looking to etch an emphatic win to preserve their star power.

Some might argue that now is the perfect time to match both fighters up to decide the trilogy.

However, the weight class may be an issue as McGregor is looking to make a title run at lightweight. In contrast, Nate Diaz is adamant that he is not willing to cut weight in order to make the 155-pound limit anymore.

Time will be the only indication as to whether the UFC will move towards putting together the once highly anticipated trilogy fight.
